About MomRN

Tamara Walker, R.N. has been offering support, information, advice, and encouragement to parents through her alter ego, “MomRN”, since 2001.

Nineteen years of motherhood, plus three years as a pediatric nurse, a dozen years as a professional child care provider, six and a half years of being a homeschooling mom, and growing up as the oldest sibling of six children has given MomRN a wide variety of experience in caring for children and a unique parenting expertise. She has used this expertise to help thousands of parents as they strive to be the best parents they can be. As a mom who has “been there, done that”, MomRN offers advice and information to help parents raise their children from the cradle to college. MomRN lets parents know what is essential for a kid’s well-being and what they can stop worrying about so they can relax and enjoy their kids more.

Tamara is the host of a parenting radio show on BlogTalkRadio.com. The Ask MomRN Show covers a wide variety of parenting, family, safety, and health topics and features several well-known expert guests. Parents are welcome to call in with questions and speak with MomRN and her guests during the show at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/MomRN. The show spent two years on an Oklahoma City radio station before expanding to a worldwide audience in April 2008. It has quickly become a popular featured show on the network.

As a child safety expert, Tamara is passionate about protecting kids. She has taught abduction prevention and child safety workshops for the past six years and has been interviewed as an expert in newspapers, on television and radio, and has written numerous articles for parenting publications and websites. In March 2007, Tamara appeared via video on the Rachael Ray Show providing a helpful parenting tip for a segment on children’s health. She also wrote and starred in “Safety Smarts”, quick safety tips for use between shows for the Smile of a Child television network. Tamara is also a frequent contributor to other websites, including GalTime.com, PediatricSafety.net, and Examiner.com, just to name a few.

Tamara also loves to give motivational and inspirational talks about her experiences growing up and becoming a nurse and a mom as an amputee. Her humorous perspective on facing life’s challenges and overcoming obstacles despite all odds has been shared as a commencement speaker and a keynote speaker.

Tamara lives in Oklahoma with her husband, Dustin, their two teenagers, her furbaby dachshund, Daisy Mae, a very noisy cockatiel, and a fire-belly toad named Dawg (who actually barks!). She would love to hear from you at momrn@momrn.com!
