Last month in October I celebrated my birthday by partnering with 1-800-Flowers.com and their Deliver Birthday Smiles campaign to offer you a chance to win a $40 savings pass from 1-800-Flowers.com. In addition to the giveaway, I was sent a Birthday Flower Cake from 1-800-Flowers.com to review. The cake arrived the day before my birthday and was delivered by a local florist.
As you can see in the photo above, the flower cake was a beautiful mix of pinks, purples, yellow and a red rose on top in the center. It smelled good and looked gorgeous, but it was quite different from the photo on 1-800-Flowers.com so if you order, keep in mind that local florists may use the flowers they have on hand and the finished product may not be exactly as depicted on the website. I loved the mix of pink and white shown on the 1-800-Flowers.com description page for the Birthday Flower Cake Pastel (see below) and how much it resembles a real birthday cake. The one I received, while beautiful in it’s own right, was not really shaped like a cake, more of a mound of flowers and was vastly different in the colors and types of flowers used. The flowers did last for over a week and made the perfect centerpiece for my dining room table where all could enjoy them.
My suggestion to anyone interested in ordering this or another birthday arrangement would be to either be very specific in your order if you want the final product to look identical to the picture or be flexible and willing to let the florist choose the colors and types of flowers to be used, so as to avoid any potential disappointment upon receipt of your arrangement.
